OVERVIEW
Working with voltage testers should be a matter of course for every professional in the electrical trade, simply because it belongs to the basic equipment of every electrician. A voltage tester measures the magnitude (voltage) within a pre-determined range. In accordance with ICE/EN 61010-1, all 1-pole voltage testers can be utilised in measurement circuits up to CAT III.
Particular safety requirements are described for 2-pole voltage testers in IEC/EN 61243 - 3, DIN VDE 0682, Part 401.
These new regulations replace the old standard DIN VDE 0680, Part 5. The change will not affect users for the time being. However, for manufacturers it means that they are only allowed to produce and sell voltage testers that comply with the safety requirements as laid down in the standards IEC/EN 61243-3, DIN VDE 0682, Part 401.
Voltage tester that are already in use do not fall under these regulations; thus, their continued use is permitted.
The optical display is achieved either by means of an LED or LC display. Furthermore, some of our devices are still equipped with an acoustic signal (Testboy 11, Testboy 111, Testboy Profi LED and LCD).
