OVERVIEW
All new installations and alterations to electrical equipment or installations must be subjected to an acceptance inspection. The purpose of the inspection is to avoid damage to property and injury to persons. The DIN VDE 0100, Part 610 regulates the inspection of electrical equipment and installations.
In some cases, a visual safety inspection of the electrical equipment and installation is not sufficient.
In these cases, adherence to the legally permissible limit values must be proven based on a test protocol. Not only are electrical equipment and installations subject to the requirements of a standard, the test instruments themselves also have to comply with a standard – the IEC/EN 61010, DIN VDE 0411.
By adhering to these regulations, the safety of all directly and indirectly involved persons is guaranteed through the safety check. In practical terms, numerous measurements have to be performed on live components so that is has proven to be an advantage when a clearly designed and easy to operate measuring instrument such as the Testboy is used. There are different measuring instruments for different applications on the market, for example, phase-sequence indicators, insulation measuring instruments, and earth resistance measuring instruments.
