OVERVIEW
The digital multimeters Testboy are equipped with a wide variety of functions that are designed to do more than simplify daily work routines.
Digital or analogue
Multimeters are equipped with a digital display in order to achieve a high-resolution display. An analogue display is imprecise, because the displayed values between the scale intervals have to be assessed. The digital display on the other hand always displays the complete measurement value. The advantage of an analogue display is essentially because an alternating signal can be better displayed. This is where top-quality multimeters offer a solution. The bargraph display shows changes to the signal in the same manner as an analogue measuring instrument.
Voltage
The principal power supply for electronics devices is 230V AC voltage, which is then converted in so-called power supplies to the suitable operating power for electronics components (computer power supply units, pluggable power packs and others). Multimeters are required for direct measurement and display this voltage. The task is simplified even more if the measuring instrument is equipped with an autoranging function.
Current
Every electronics device uses current. In order to make these visible, all multimeters are designed to measure a current measuring range up to 10 A with the device itself or up to 2000 A with the help of a current clamp.
Continuity testers
In order to be able to test a good conductive low-resistant connection, all multimeters are designed with a continuity test and acoustic signal. The test voltage for the continuity test is so low that it can be guaranteed that only low-resistant connections are recognised as throughput, not however transistor or diode lines.
Accuracy
The maximum measuring error is detailed by the accuracy of the multimeter. This value is expressed in terms of percent in relation to the actual measurement value.
Auto – Power – Off
In order to save the batteries, the multimeters Testboy 2200, 3000 und Testboy Pocket turn off automatically after a certain time.
Comparative measurements
Once the reference value has been displayed, the comparative value measurement function can be activated. The display is then set to zero, and only the difference to the reference value will be displayed.
Data – Hold
By activating ‘HOLD’ or ‘DATA H’, the measurement value actually being displayed is held in the display. This can be very handy if the value needs to be registered in documentation or the display cannot be read during the measurement.
